Role: After School Volunteer (3 Positions Available)

Commitment: Part-Time Volunteer

Weekdays: 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Saturdays: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
School Holidays: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

🌍 About RICCA

Rising Capacities for Children Africa (RICCA) is a locally led non-profit organization dedicated to improving learning opportunities and overall wellbeing for children in rural Kenya. Through community-based programs, RICCA supports children to learn, grow, and develop life skills in safe and supportive environments.

As our After School Learning Centre continues to grow, we are expanding our volunteer team.

🎯 Volunteer Focus Areas

Volunteers will support children in one of the following areas:

β€’ Foundational Learning
β€’ Literacy & Numeracy
β€’ Confidence, Leadership & Life Skills

🧾 Key Responsibilities

β€’ Deliver structured learning sessions and child development activities
β€’ Support children through mentoring, coaching, and hands-on learning
β€’ Build positive relationships with children, parents, and community members
β€’ Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and child-friendly environment
β€’ Collaborate with staff and volunteers to plan and deliver sessions

⭐ Expectations

Volunteers are expected to:

β€’ Treat all children, parents, and staff with respect regardless of tribe, religion, ability, or socioeconomic background
β€’ Be punctual and committed to assigned schedules
β€’ Follow RICCA policies and procedures
β€’ Support additional activities when required

πŸ›‘ Safeguarding Responsibilities

β€’ Report any accidents, incidents, or suspected child abuse following RICCA safeguarding procedures
β€’ Follow emergency and child protection protocols
β€’ Participate in volunteer briefings and training sessions

πŸŽ“ Skills & Qualifications

β€’ Must live within the local community
β€’ Experience working with children, schools, NGOs, or similar environments preferred
β€’ Strong communication skills in English and/or Swahili
β€’ Passion for supporting children’s learning and development
β€’ Ability to mentor, guide, and positively engage children
